Solar Power in Hanover Park

The Village of Hanover Park is proud to have received a Bronze designation from SolSmart, a national program led by th International City/County Management Association and The Solar Foundation. The SolSmart program funded by the U.S Department of Energy SunShot Initiative, helps local governments reduce barriers to solar energy growth and make it easier for homes and businesses to go solar. The Village 2010 Comprehensive Plan embraces green technology, green building design, and sustainable energy. The Plan seeks the removal of obstacles in the Village Code that might hinder sustainable development, ensuring building design which is response to and works in harmony with Hanover Park’s climate and natural systems, promoting solar energy optimization, and adopting solar and wind energy ordinances which include guidelines for setback, solar and wind access, noise disturbance and safety issues relating to each renewable technology. As a Bronze designated community, Hanover Park commits to a three (3) day review of all complete building permit applications for installation of Solar Energy Systems.
