9-11 Ceremony 2011

On Saturday, September 10, 2011, the Village honored Firefighters and Police Officers who serve our community, those who gave their lives on September 11, 2001, and all those who have died in the line of duty since that tragic day.  Every year, approximately 100 Firefighters and 150 Police officers make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The ceremony was held at the Hanover Park Fire Station No. 1 located at 6850 Barrington Road. The Hanover Park Police Department and Fire Department Honor Guards lowered the flags to half-staff and presented two wreaths, one dedicated to Firefighters and the other dedicated to Law Enforcement Officers, in remembrance of their fallen brothers and sisters. The ceremony closed with music featuring Tim Hess playing the bagpipes, the Gospelites, and the Allison Wonder Band.
