Welcome to a Green Power Community
The Village is going Green!
On May 18, 2013 a notice was mailed from the Village of Hanover Park to all residents and small business owners at their ComEd billing address announcing the re-start of the Village Electric Aggregation Program. You need do nothing to participate unless you have your own contract with another supplier, or are enrolled in ComEd’s hourly rate program, in which case you must take action to enroll.
Village residents and small businesses will enjoy the benefit of Renewable / Green Energy at exactly the same rate billed by ComEd—all at no additional cost to the residents or Village.
Review your notice carefully, as ratepayers receive different notices, depending, for example, if you’ve already enrolled with another supplier. Some accounts will remain at ComEd and others will enroll with Chicago-based MC Squared Energy. All pay the same rate, and the Village receives Renewable Energy Certificates representing Green power for all.
Background: Voters in the Village of Hanover Park passed a referendum by majority vote in the November 2012 election, enabling the Village to contract with an electric supplier in an opt out program for residents and small businesses. The concept is all about Customer Choice, and started with deregulation of electric suppliers in 2007. In this new version of aggregation, some ratepayers will remain at ComEd and others will automatically be enrolled with supplier MC Squared Energy Services unless they take action as described in their letter, to opt out. But the net effect is identical for all: The Village receives Green Energy credits, all pay the exact some ComEd rate, with zero rate risk.
