This 14-day exclusive PPP loan application period for businesses and nonprofits with less than 20 employees ends 3/9/21 @ 4P CT Changes aim to make the now $284.5 billion forgivable loan program more equitable and accessible to the smallest businesses. Sole proprietors, independent contractors, and self-employed individuals may apply for a PPP loan equivalent to the figure listed on line 7 of their Schedule C form--that is, their gross income. Previously, businesses needed to list their net income, or line 31 on the form, which removes taxes and other expenses from the calculation. Learn More Additionally, changes to the legislation:
- Eliminates an exclusionary restriction on PPP access for small business owners with prior non-financial fraud felony convictions, consistent with a bipartisan congressional proposal
- Eliminates PPP access restrictions on small business owners who have struggled to make federal student loan payments by eliminating federal student loan debt delinquency and default as disqualifiers to participating in the PPP; and
- Ensures access for non-citizen small business owners who are lawfully residing in the U.S. by clarifying that they may use an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to apply for the PPP.
Borrowers can apply for the Paycheck Protection Program by downloading the First Draw PPP loan application or Second Draw PPP loan application.
After the two-week period ends, all other companies that have not already applied for first- and second-draw PPP loans will be able to apply until March 31, 2021. The SBA will also initiate additional changes designed to “open the PPP to more underserved small businesses.” Read more from the SBA here.
There’s massive upside for these businesses. But as with all things PPP, it’s not all clear cut. Read this story from INC Magazine to learn what’s involved, and how to make the most of the opportunity.

Please visit this website for more details. The site contains case history cost estimates. Additional information on the legislation is here.
