National Drug Takeback Day this Saturday, April 25thApril 25th is the DEA's National Drug Takeback Day. Our friends from the Kenneth Young Center will be here at the Hanover Park Police Department from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to collect your unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications (please, no liquids or needles) and to share information about substance use disorder, prevention, and treatment options. Flushing medicines down the toilet or pouring them down the sink can create the potential for harmful chemicals to end up in our waterways. Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands, which can lead to medication misuse or the beginning of opioid addiction. Opioid overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the U.S. That's why Drug Take Back Day is a great opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinet and turn in, safely and anonymously, all your expired and unneeded medications. If you are unable to make it to the Police Department on April 25th, don't worry. We have a drug take-back box in our lobby that is available from 8:00am to midnight every day for your convenience. If you or someone you know needs help, the Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances at 1-833-234-3435 is available 24/7, 365 days a year and is completely free. Anyone can use the Helpline, whether you are struggling with a substance use disorder or care about someone who is. Trained Helpline specialists answer questions, provide support, and connect you to services in Illinois.

Construction Season is Here!
Arlington Drive Bridge Replacement Update: The contractor continued work on the remaining concrete. As soon as the asphalt plants are open and we have IDOT approval for the asphalt mix, the contractor will begin paving the bridge. We are so close to reopening! We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. 2026 Resurfacing Update: This week, staff began preparing for the contractor by marking the sidewalk and curb and gutter for removal and replacement. Next week, the contractor anticipates beginning concrete removals. If during this project, a resident is expected to lose access to their driveway, they will receive advanced notice. 2026 Crack Sealing Update: Crews will begin crack sealing various streets throughout the Village the first week in May. Cracksealing is a process that involves applying a fiber-asphalt material to cracks in the roadway to expand the lifespan of the streets. Center Avenue Sidewalk Update: This week, the contractor began removals on the east side of the street in preparation for sidewalk installation. Lake Street Multi-Use Path Update: The contractor plans to begin site mobilization and prepare for construction towards the end of next week. This project will include daily lane closures along Lake Street from Church Street/Metra Station to Turnberry Drive. Fiber Installation (Lumos/T-Mobile): Lumos/T-Mobile has several fiber installation projects throughout the Village. These are not Village-run projects. Any questions or concerns about these projects should be directed to Lumos’s Construction Hotline at 800-905-9017. If you leave your name, address, and phone number, they will follow up within 48 hours. Fiber Installation (AT&T): AT&T has resumed its fiber installation projects throughout the Village. These are not Village-run projects. Any questions or concerns about these projects should be directed to AT&T’s Construction Hotline at 800-843-6581. If you leave your name, address, and phone number, they will follow up within 48 hours.
