Memorial Day Observance - May 25th

This Monday, May 25th, beginning at 10:00AM, join the Veterans Committee for the annual Memorial Day Observance at the Veterans Memorial Plaza, located in front of Village Hall. Following the observance, a tree dedication will be held in memory of Rick Roberts, a Navy veteran and former Trustee. This dedication will take place at the Sports Complex at 1200 Sycamore Avenue.


Construction Updates

Arlington Drive Bridge Replacement Update: Only minor punchlist work remains, which should be completed in the coming weeks.

2026 Resurfacing Update: This week, the contractor began milling the existing asphalt streets. Next week, they will perform full-depth reclamation (FDR) on Morton, Mallow, and Lawrence. Once the FDR is completed, asphalt paving will take place.

2026 Crack Sealing Update: On Wednesday, crews finished crack sealing various streets throughout the Village.   

Center Avenue Sidewalk Update: This week, the contractor worked on the landscape restoration. Once this is complete, only punch list work remains.

Lake Street Multi-Use Path Update: The contractor worked on updating traffic signals related to the multi-use path. They also began removing sidewalk for the new path. This project will include daily lane closures along Lake Street from Church Street/Metra Station to Turnberry Drive.

Fiber Installation (Lumos/T-Mobile): Lumos/T-Mobile has several fiber installation projects throughout the Village. These are not Village-run projects. Any questions or concerns about these projects should be directed to Lumos’s Construction Hotline at 800-905-9017. If you leave your name, address, and phone number, they will follow up within 48 hours.

Any questions or concerns about these projects should be directed to AT&T’s Construction Hotline at 800-843-6581. If you leave your name, address, and phone number, they will follow up within 48 hours.

Inspectional Services New Digital Services

The Hanover Fire Department Inspectional Services Division has enhanced its operations to provide a safe and convenient process for conducting business with the Village.  All documents required to apply for building permits, contractor licenses, or business licenses can now be submitted digitally using our online forms.  We will review your submittal, communicate any necessary information, and issue your permit or license digitally.  We can also accept payments online and schedule any inspections needed by email.  All email submittals and requests can be sent to iservices@hpil.org.

A fully digital process means a more efficient review process and a safer transaction for everyone.  Applying for a building permit, license or scheduling inspections has never been more convenient!

Be Prepared for an Emergency: Learn CPR.  Save a Life.  

In a cardiac emergency, every minute counts. CPR can double or even triple the chance of survival. Protecting your family, your friends, and your community starts with being prepared. The Hanover Park Fire Department offers CPR training, which includes learning child and adult CPR, how to help a choking victim, and how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The next class for the general public is on Saturday, June 20th.

Hanover Park Park District Update

Seafari Spring's Opening Day is June 6th. Join the Park District from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. 2026 season passes are now available for the water park. All visitors entering must either have a Seafari Springs Aquatic Center 2026 season pass or a daily ticket. Children under 13 must be accompanied by and supervised by a guardian 16 years old or older.  For safety reasons, children cannot be left unattended on the pool deck. Pop-Up Program: I Am... Community Board - May 1 - May 31:  To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, drop by any library location to share something positive about yourself on the community board. Write your reflection on a post-it note and place it on the community board. This drop-in event is available from May 1 through May 31.

What to Do When a Loved One Passes Away - A Survivor’s Checklist @ Central Library Branch - May 23 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Join Mira Radadia, an experienced attorney-at-law for a seminar that guides you through this challenging time. Mira provides a clear, step-by-step checklist of essential tasks to help you stay organized, reduce stress, and ensure nothing is overlooked during this difficult process. Scrabble Club - North American Scrabble Players Association Club 518, Drop in @ Central Library Branch- May 24 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM: The North American Scrabble Players Association Club 518 welcomes anyone interested in playing, or learning to play, competitive Scrabble. Feel free to bring your own equipment (board, tiles, racks, clock, etc.). If you don't have anything, no worries, you can always join someone else's game. Extra score sheets and writing utensils are available as well as "cheat sheets" of short words and new words.

Poplar Creek Public Library is interviewing longtime Streamwood & Hanover Park residents about their experiences living here. The interviews will be made public and shared in the library's digital history collection, found at pclib.org/history. Interviews will run from 15 to 60 minutes.
