OBJECTIVE: To replace the deteriorated Arlington Drive bridge at the West Branch of the DuPage River.

DESCRIPTION: The Arlington Bridge has deteriorated to the point where it is currently rated at a 5-ton load limit. In 2015, the Village received a federal grant through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to design and reconstruct a replacement bridge. This project is critical, as the bridge is heavily used and is one of only two ways out of the Greenbrook Tanglewood neighborhood. Timber piles support the existing bridge. The new bridge will be a four-cell box culvert. Construction is highly dependent on weather conditions and is expected to be completed by spring 2026. The bridge will be closed for most of 2025.

6/12/26 UPDATE: Only minor punchlist work remains, which should be completed in the coming weeks.
